Welcome to the Ruby Hills website

Ruby Hills is a family-owned grazing operation on the watershed of the Great Dividing Range at 1200 metres near Walcha in the New England of New South Wales. Ruby Hills is 2100 hectares and our business is managed ecologically as a family operation, working on balancing social, environmental and economic outcomes.


Ruby Hills property is the home of:

  • 500 ewe nucleus fine wool (17 micron) Merino stud – registered #4120
  • 5000 ewe commercial Merino flock producing high quality fine and superfine Merino wool
  • 1200 first-cross ewe flock
  • Herd of 150 Poll Hereford breeding cattle


The New England region is renowned for its high tensile strength wools of low vegetable contamination and superior processing ability.

Our Merino stud focuses on commercial production of profitable fine wool sheep and we have rams, semen and surplus commercial sheep for sale.


Our shearers’ accommodation is available to groups on a self-catering basis, when not in use by the shearers.  The quarters are suitable for individuals, schools, fishermen, backpackers, families and organisations.
