Undulating to hilly, little southerly aspect

Soils:

Mostly trap but about 20% basalt

Temperature:

Mild summers but cold winters which usually restrict pasture growth for 100 days.

Pastures:

Microlaena and sub-clover are endemic. Most arable land has been sown to perennials such as phalaris, fescue and rye. Regular applications of phosphatic fertilizer; Lime is used in conjunction with cropping and pasture establishment.
